Am I drunk, or is it your setup file?
So you say that the TestGen Plug-in doesn't work with the 64-bit version of IE. Why then, on a 64-bit PC, does TestGen install to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Plugins?? That's the 64-bit directory. TestGen Plug-in should be installing to Program Files (x86). I tried copying the files to the x86 dir but no joy.
In addition, your support page lists three files that should be present. However, after installing, xwrapper.ocx is not in any folder.
And last but not least...on some of the PCs I've tested on, when accessing the test page (support.pearsonmcmg.com/testgen/tgPluginTest.htm) IE wants to save "versioninfo.wtk". On others, after allowing the plug-in to run, I only get a blank white box.
System specs:
Windows 10 (build 1607)
Internet Explorer 11
Oh...and one more question... How do I deploy the NPAPI plug-in for Chrome? Your setup file opens Chrome after it's done its thing for IE/Firefox and prompts to install for Chrome. My users are not local admin and won't be able to do this install...
Bottom line is this: I need to be able to silently deploy the TestGen plug-in to a couple hundred PCs. Ideally, for IE/Chrome/Firefox, but if I could get it working for ANY of them, I could live with that.

We actually do support 64-bit
We actually do support 64-bit IE. Yes, we put the plugin in the wrong place, however it doesn't matter because we set up registry keys to point to the plugin.
xwrapper.ocx has been obsolete for years. We use "pgtgeqplugin.ocx" and "pgtgeqplugin64.ocx" now.
Prompting for a "versioninfo.wtk" is usually a sign that the plugin isn't installed or being allowed to run.
A blank white box is a sign that the test file didn't download properly. You might try testing your installation of the plugin using one (or both) of these links to see if it is the plugin or the CMS causing issues:
You should see a box in the center of the screen that shows the plugin information.
Here you can try out our simple sample test demo and submit the test.
Installing for Chrome: the "install extension" button installs the extension per-user, so the user who clicks the button will be able to take TestGen tests. The non-extension bits of the plugin are installed globally by the installer. If you've got multiple users on one computer, they'll each need to visit http://www.tamarack-software.com/install_chrome_extension.html. Blame Google's paranoia for prohibiting us from installing the extension globally.
Silent installation: running the installer with the "-s" flag will do just that. It's been a standard part of the plugin installer for a few versions now. Can't silently install for Chrome, though: Google prohibits this.

So xwrapper is obsolete...
So xwrapper is obsolete... This page (http://support.pearsoncmg.com/testgen/tgPluginTest.htm) needs to be updated or removed, then. A company that provides no troubleshooting info is bad. A company that provides wrong troubleshooting info is worse.
Please bring this plugin (the install) into the 21st century. For a silent install "-s" works but "/s" doesn't. The Testgen plugin doesn't show in Windows' Programs and Features for uninstall. Nor does it create an Uninstall key in the Registry. How does one go about updating the version?? Can I just deploy the new version? I'm about to test that, but I shouldn't have to be guessing.
Any reasonable software developer would have all this documented. Especially when you consider that this plugin is intended to be used by schools, where students don't have install rights and there are way too many PCs to do the install manually.
The links you provide above return confusing results. The first link shows nothing but a blank white box (even after allowing the plugin to run), but the second link displays a working test with 20 questions of various types.
