Sometimes the "Scramble" option is greyed out

On certain tests, the "scramble" option will become greyed out. Is there a way to fix this?

TestGen Forums: 

The most common reason for the Scramble option being grayed out is that the Sort option is set to "Testbank order". Go to the Question menu, choose Sort, and set the Sort order to "User-defined" in order to make the Scramble option available.

In our case this is not what is causing the problem. Even if the user defined option is selected, scrambe is still greyed out.

(Choose category Other.) Let me know which testbank you're using and which version of TestGen. It might be helpful if you also attach a copy of the test to see if I get the same results with it. Jack -- Forgot to mention a couple of other things that might disable the Scramble options:

  • Having page breaks on the test.
  • Having the cursor inside one of the editing fields, such as Question or Answer. Be sure to click out of the editing field and click a question number before applying Scramble.

How do you get rid of page breaks?

Hi Jack,

The page break will be shown as a horizontal line across the test page. If you left click that line it will highlight. Once it is highlighted you can delete it with the delete key.
