Although USB drives are not
Although USB drives are not the preferred destination for the installation of TestGen, we have tried this with Windows 7 and Vista and it appears to work with the following caveats:
* The TestGen application will not appear on the Start menu.
* Double-clicking a test or testbank file will not start the application. You will need to start the application first, then browse to find and open the data file you need.
* Application preferences, Testbank Library lists, and recent items lists are stored in the user's own folder for the specific operating system and machine, so they do not travel with the files on the USB drive. As a result, you will need to always browse to find these files when running the application.
Another option is to install the TestGen program on the local computer(s) and use the USB drive to store only the data files -- testbanks and tests -- so they are portable and can be opened with other installations of TestGen.
