Printing problem with page range specified

I have a problem with printing when I want to specify a page range. I am using TestGen v7.4.1 on Windows XP SP2 and trying to print to a pdf printer (pdf995). With every other program except TestGen that I print from (IE, Adobe Reader, Word, etc.) I can specify a page range and that is what's contained in the pdf file.

Using TestGen, if I am printing to my real HP printer and I specify a range of pages, only those pages are printed. If I print using pdf995, the entire document is printed whether I try to shorten it from the back or the front.

I have a second pdf 'printer', one that can with my OCR program and it behaves the same way. I also have Microsoft's XPS 'printer' installed and it also behaves the same way.

This didn't happen when I first started printing from TestGen to pdf995 (last spring or summer??) but I have since updated both TestGen and pdf995 to their current versions.

I asked the question at pdf995's support line and they feel that it is a TestGen problem.

I can work around the problem by making the pdf, opening it in Adobe Reader, and then printing from AR to the pdf995 printer and specifying the desired page range. If you can correct this problem, I would be very grateful.

Thanks,

TestGen Forums:

Hi Don,

I appreciate the detailed description of your problem. We were able to track down the bug and fix it yesterday. It still needs to be tested thoroughly and approved for distribution. We should be able to get it in the next major release.

Jeff

That's great. But when will 'the next major release' occur? If that will be a while, perhaps you could send me the corrected binary separately?? Thanks, Don.

I wish we could send you a binary Don; however, at this time TestGen is only distributed through select textbook publishers. My recommendation is to let your publisher's support group know that you would like to see this bug fix in the next release. If they request it, we will add it into their release.

Again, thank you for your information on this bug. Feedback like this helps refine and evolve TestGen.

Jeff
