Testgen: editing metadata of testbank questions

I want to edit the details of testbank questions like difficulty, Bloom's Taxonomy, and question ID code.
None of these appear to be editable, even though I have turned ON "enable testbank editing". I can I access these details? must I hack into the .BOK file with a text editor??

TestGen Forums:

In order to change the metadata, you'll need to open the testbank for editing. The easy way to do this is from the library, by highlighting the testbank and selecting "Edit Testbank" from the "File" menu. You can also open a testbank for editing from the "Open" option of the "File" menu, or by clicking "Browse for other testbanks" from the start panel.

To edit the metadata, highlight a question and click the "Show Properties" button at the bottom of the editing window, or select "Show Question Properties" from the "View" menu. This brings up a panel where you can edit things such as the difficulty or Bloom's Taxonomy.

The question ID can't be edited. It's constructed from the testbank abbreviation and the question's location within the testbank.

Hacking into the .BOK file with a text editor is not recommended. .BOK files are binary files that are very easy to damage if you edit them outside of TestGen.

ah, the frustration: My version of TestGen DOES NOT SHOW the "Show Properties" button at the bottom of the editing window under any circumstances, no matter what is selected or not selected. What is wrong? Is "Show Properties" in a menu somewhere?

With a question in the Testbank (left side) selected, the item "Question Properties" is visible under the View menu, but greyed out (not active). In the Preferences, I DID set the testbank to be editable. Without this, I cannot edit the metadata of the question.

You need the testbank to be open in the right-hand side, not the left-hand side, in order to edit the metadata. The quick way to open it is to select a question in the left-hand side, then select "Edit Testbank" from the "File" menu. This will move the testbank over to the right-hand side for editing.
